Hi Guy's,
Opening my sbs 1 this morning I would appear to have a problem.. on opening I get the outline of my sbs display but no content in the middle!!! It appears to be working as when I open my Active Display it is showing that my sbs1 is logging and when i open PP it is showing that my basestation is sharing with PP showing my plots. About 10 mins later the basestation shuts down !! when it does this I get the following Error Messages ..
1. Access Violation at address 76F7DD6D in Module 'ntdll.dll' Write of address 00000014
2. Access Violation at address 0042E242 iin Module 'Basestation.Exe' Read of address 31303058
I would appreciate any help you can offer me .. I was going to try Re installing but the Disc which came with my original purchase appears to be damaged and cant be read. I have also tried a system Restore just in the off chance it would help but alas no.
Now it has stopped loading Totally
Your Help would be gratefullyt appreciated.

Hi Willie

With Basestation off go to the basestation folder and put an "X" in front of your sqb file  , that is , rename it.
Power down your PC and disconnect from the mains ....ie unplug it ...... disconnect your antenna to the SBS 1 and also the USB cable.

Plug a new USB cable between PC and SBS1
Plug your PC back in to the mains and start it

Start Basestation [ leave the antenna off ]
Let Basestation populate with your maps.
The main connection light should be on but no blue lights.
Close Basestation

Now connect your antenna

Start Basestation aagain

Do you now see plots ?

If so...you either had a corrupted sqb or , a faulty cable
So.....close Basestation and in the basestation folder re instate the old sqb....you'll need to delete the empty one just created by the system.

Start Basestation....does it work.....if it does ,it was your USB cable.
If it doesnt.....you guessed it...corrupt sqb

Hope this works

Regards

John

The bit I don't get is that Active Display appears to be showing aircraft from Basestation as is PP.  That suggests that the SBS is working OK and decoding data.

Don't worry about the damaged CD as that can be circumvented.

Did Satcom's suggestion to rename the Basestation.sqb file (so Basestation creates a new, empty one) sort out the problem?

What version of Windows are you running?

That bit puzzled me too , but I thought we should eliminate the usual reasons for probs  first before delving a little deeper.

Totally agree.  That's why I've only asked if your suggestion worked.  ;)

Oh, and what version of Windows?

As mike knows I have had lots of problems recently with Basestation crashing and shutting down with no warnings.

This is still happening but i am currently just logging what is happening and when at the moment to see if there is any pattern to what is happening.

1 thing I have noticed a lot is even with Basestation shut down, PP is still showing my shared data!! AD isnt though as that just shows my last entry recieved from the SBS with a "out of memory" message

I have not had any failures recently since i have started shutting everything down manually every night and restarting. i.e 24 hour sessions?

I am using .168 with my trusty old SBS-1 and baffled!

Maybe revert back to Version 161.

I had a lot of problems with BS and PP when I went to v168.

Just a thought.
