Hello to you all.

Dug out my old SBS1 which had been gathering dust for a few years, and enjoying some of the new logos you guys have produced.

Its a pity the old Gatwick Aviation Soceity site has finished, it's a slow job now populating stuff, perhaps it's a blessing it is so quiet ;)

Happy hunting all.

Welcome Steve.

As you mention, some things have improved over the years, like the logos, whereas others have degraded, like GAS and Active Display.  Progress?

Hi Steve,

The good old SBS-1 still is a modern marvel! While the newer receivers plot their data on a map, it is BaseStation that puts all information into a database so it is possible to 'follow' airframes over time. All kinds of statistics can be drived from that data! The new flags are little pieces of art! Automatic population of aircraft is still possible but somewhat costly. In this 'calm' period it's more or less possible to keep up. However 'calm' is relative, as where I live gliders and private aircraft are very much present.
Personally I modified the database (trigger to copy the OperatorFlagCode to the MTOW field) so that the OperatorFlagCode is present in the temporary files in the Userdata map.
Also the freeware program AutoHotKey can be very handy. I use it to rename and put a picture in the right place.
I hope you will enjoy your SBS-1 as much as when you just got it.

Cheers,
John

Hi John, welcome to the forum.  At home I use one of the new "dongles" sitting in the loft to feed data into Basestation running on my laptop.  When I'm away from home I use an SBS-1.

I hope to have a solution to aid in the lack of sqb updates, as well as the population of the OperatorFlagCode field.

News to follow soon.
