Well done satcom.  There've been a small number of reported cases over the years but I didn't think about that.  :-[

An easy test is take the SBS-1 and laptop outside and down the road.  Or to Ian's.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, he is nipping round this evening ..

As an update Anmer at Satcom ..

Looks like its an aerial problem ...    Using the 'suspect' aerial ... very few contacts, similar as to described last night, a couple of lower level flights. Mine got plugged in ...  The high level stuff appeared straightaway ...   The scanner aerial has also been working fine all afternoon. A call to Chris at Kinetic was made and he very helpfully posted out a replacement aerial first class which should be delivered tomorrow.

Thanks to all concerned.

That's good news.  What confused me was an earlier post saying two different antennas had been used and same result.

I've seen so few reports (in 7 years) of SBS-1 failures, unlike another box I could mention.

The SBS1 has been very reliable and when I had a problem (once only due something breaking while upgrading first ever firmware upgrade) Kinetic (and Chris in particular) swapped my defective Mk1 box for a brand new Mk2 box all within a week.

Very good service

Totally agree with Mike. My SBS-1 has been in constant use since 2005, been throw around the car a few times on airport visits, and its still going 24/7 conected to Plane Plotter network.

SBS-1 is very reliable
