Hi all.

I am new to Radarspotting and am sure this has been covered allready. Backing up the SBS 3 database has stopped working as the error code is out of memory. I have tried various memory sticks but the same error, so is not this. Is there another way to back up the file?

Anmer

Welcome.

What are you using to make the backup?

I never recommend using the Kinetic (BaseStation) backup.

The database is named:

Basestation.sqb

And is in the BaseStation folder.  Just copy the file as a backup or include it in your normal system and/or data backup.

I use the Acronis True Image utility which automatically updates all my PC data overnight to a external harddrive.  In many years it's never let me down and I have a total system backup for a full or specific file recovery, going back months.

Or, if you have cloud storage, backup the BaseStation.sqb there.

Hi.

Cannot locate the basestation.SQB file.

Anmer

How do you launch BaseStation?  A shortcut?

If Yes, check the Properties and let me know the "Target", see attached example.

Pete

Is it showing:

Program Files (x86)/Kinetic BaseStation/BaseStation.exe

If it is, the "active" sqb file is "hidden" in the Virtual Store.  This is the one that needs to be backed up.

Please Google "Windows Virtual Store".  It will explain far better than I can and also how to expose the hidden folder so you can back up the file.

What do you mean by "access it"?

It's an sql database.  BaseStation reads and writes the data.  BaseStation Reporter let's you view and edit the data, as can any other sql utility.

This thread was initially about backing up the file.  I suggested copying it.

Hi again.

Now i have a sqb file how can i load it onto another computer as a running back up? Sorry to be a pain but i am not very good with computers and like to keep things simple. As mentioned i have lost data previously.

Many thanks Pete

Hi Pete

Personally, I would recommend a dedicated back-up solution.  In the absence of this, copying a file to another, external location is a low level alternative.

I'm still not sure what you were using to backup your Bsestation database and giving you errors.  Hence why I suggested copying the file.  There is no such thing as a Basestation.sqb "running back up".

This may help:

If you're using a different version of Windows, please Google it.

Hi.
I had a lightbulb moment whilst walking the dog and the penny dropped about replacing the SQB file in the backup computer. Once again many thanks for your help and patience.

Cheers Pete
