Hi All

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the wealth of information contained in this forum. I have finally gotten around to attaching the SBS-3 I brought from mcfcmike64 in January to my home network. Having tested on my laptop with the BaseStation software, and all was good I wanted to move forward and have this attached to the home network and obtain the data from it via ModeSMixer2 (MM2) software on a RaspberryPi.

Having spent ages reading through many posts and building an understanding I took the plunge this morning (the other half was on an early train and I had the house to myself - now I have wires running all over the place!)

Everything worked flawlessly first and I am getting data to MM2 - which I can redistribute into VRS / tar1090 / sbs10001 combined feed etc etc. Just needs to be a in a better position now as down stairs near the router is not a good location

Thank you to mcfcmike64 - your old kit is now being well used and loved. Thank you to everyone who has shared their knowledge on this forum.

Best regards,
Rik

Nice to hear rik,

Did you get also the radio info (ACARS and Scaner) working on the network? Just wondering if this is also possible on LAN connector on the SBS-3.

Cheers

Why do you say the SBS-3 radio interface doesn't work over Ethernet?

I'm not aware of any limitation.

I have no idea, but I presume that ACARS/Airband would work over the network. I have not read that it wont. I was not planning to do ACARS/Airband with it in my current location. Reception is poor. My next house will be on top of a hill!

The SBS-3 I don't have experience with but my SBS-1eR doesn't react to the radio-panel when it is connected over Ethernet. It does when connected via USB. I'll try again one of these days but I'm fairly sure that it needs the USB connection for that feature to work.

OK, here's what I just tested.

Plugged in my SBS-3, connected via Ethernet.

Pointed Basestation at it using Network.

I can see the "Built-in SDR" menu option which is active and I can tune the radio.  Maybe check that Settings->Hardware Settings->Radio has Com1 selected for the Serial Port?
