Hey - I presume that S92driver set you up with some of the other feeds from the ZT network on your VRS? Keep an eye out to see if any of those 4D24** appear on them on your VRS. Might me a bit of a needle in a hay stack game as there are only 256 potiential a/c in that range. Kinda need to see if it is a VRS thing or something else (I think something else, but it would be nice to definitely rule VRS out.)

Thanks, I only have one other feed in and that is from NE England. I was offered others but didn't take them as they were outside of the area I was interested in. However, I will check that feed and see if they show.

9H-WAT (4D2428) is on its way back from Keflavik approaching Stornoway (at 2025).  Might be a bit west for me, but NE England should get it. I'll see if it is picked up.

Yep - its up on https://www.yorkradar.duckdns.org/VirtualRadar - so you should be able to see it on that feed

Hi Rik

OK, must be an issue with my own setup somewhere. The two pictures show the NE England feed through my own VRS. The wizz Air is showing as an unknown behind the Icelandair in the map, and the table shows it as unknown.

It was unfortunately too far west for me. Interestingly S92driver on merged feed showed the Wizz Air, but his own feed only showed the Icelandair, not the Wizz Air. So, his and my feeds appear to have the same issue. How strange! I also looked at his direct link.to his feed and it definitely did not show the Wizz Air.

Anyone any thoughts what is now the issue? I guess it must be a setup option somewhere but I wonder which one?

Well at least we can rule out VRS stripping out the a/c at this point, your picking it up from a different feed and so is S92driver... I also looked on his VRS and saw the same thing.

This gets more mysterious each post.

I've fed just your feed in to a tar1090 container on my server via ZT

https://www.cornwallvrs.duckdns.org/tar1090abz/

I'll keep an eye on it -  if you know when anymore are coming your way we can take a look.

I'm pretty certain this isn't a VRS issue.

The RTL data is being decoded by ModeSdeco2, which has an "ICAO Country filter".  I suspect the internal data table used by this function does not capture the latest batch of Maltese ModeS codes, so these are being discarded.

The solution is to turn off the filter by placing "--filter-nocountry" in the config file.

Steve sent this to me earlier, and when I get a chance I will update my system as well, and hopefully these pesky new Maltese will show again.  All we need is for one to come this way to test it out.

Many thanks to everyone for their help with this.  :)

I agree.  VRS doesn't appear to have any setting for nor reference any hex code allocation tables.

And here's an example of an "unknown" showing up on VRS - Malta hex 4D23F9 RYR56QW.

Having looked it up, it's Malta Air 9H-QEQ B738.

As soon as I added this to my Basestation.sqb and refreshed, VRS updated accordingly.

Nice find Steve - let's hope this solves the problem.
A rather obsure problem, which leaves me wondering what else the decoder was filtering out.

If I knew what one of those was I might agree with you ;)

Looks like S92Driver's fix worked.  Although I didn't see it on screen as I was out, hex code 4D241F showed up as an unknown this afternoon.  This was 9H-WAJ from Rome to Keflavik routing up the North Sea.

Great news! Thanks for confirming the fix worked.

Nice find S92driver.
