Note from Bev at COAA:

Hi,

PlanePlotter version 6.2.9 is now available for download following the link on the the web site.

http://www.planeplotter.com/

---Usual boilerplate---

Updates are free to registered users.

You may need to exercise your browser Refresh function to force it to show you the new version of the PlanePlotter web page. If you post a message saying that the web site is still pointing to an earlier version, you pay a forfeit.

You can install the new version over the old one but you *must* close/exit PlanePlotter before installing the new one. Your settings will be preserved. If you post a message saying that the installer is unable to replace planeplotter.exe, it means that you did not close PP first and you pay a forfeit.

If you have a version-specific firewall (eg Zone Alarm), you may have to reassure it that the new version is permitted to access the Internet.

-----------

New in version 6.2.9

Display of the company flag based on the flight number now checks for a digit in 4th place to avoid confusion with 'special' flight numbers with similar first three letters.

New conditional expression noun "in zone" ("inz") which has the value "1" if the aircraft is inside the user-defined alert zone. It can be used to make more intricate alerts which will trigger on, say, all aircraft in your zone as well as certain aircraft outside of the zone. It could also trigger on aircraft that are in the zone and below a certain altitude, for example.

New conditional expression value "elevation" ("ele") which has the value of the angle in degrees of the aircraft above the horizon as seen from the Home Location. This can be used to trigger an alert, or only display, aircraft that are above some local horizon, which you may make a function of azimuth.

This version can handle up to six SDR channels with the latest SBS3 firmware.

Toolbar button "Share" has an additional step for download only operation. The sequence is now No sharing : Up and down sharing : Sharing upload only : Sharing download only. The arrows on the button are, I hope, self explanatory.

Update from Bev:

Some users have found that they are not uploading data when using version 6.2.9 even if the share button is showing two diagonal arrows.

If you are running PlanePlotter version 6.2.9 and have a local receiver, please would you check "PlanePlotter..Help..Test networking..Check sharing status" and ensure that the "Last aircraft up" figure is not zero (unless you expect there to be no current aircraft for some reason).

If the "Last aircraft up" figure is zero but you are currently receiving aircraft locally, please would you click the Share button round all four states until you are back at the Sharing (two diagonal arrows) state again. You should then find - perhaps after a minute or so - that the "Last aircraft up" figure is what you expect.

I hope this will resolve the problem, whihc is related to the change from version 6.2.8 to 6.2.9. I have one report of the problem recurring when the program restarts but I have not been able to reproduce that symptom.

Please let me know if the "Last aircraft up" persists in being zero even though you are receiving your own local aircraft and your share settings are such that you expect aircraft to be uploading to the server.
