AE61FB is showing up as a Lockheed Martin HC-130J Combat King II-USAF Reg.#17-5878. I visually and radio checked this as a
Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk Reg.# 18-20983 United States Army. Callsign Knife08 based local in California. Anyway to change this so correct aircraft shows up.

Both the Herc and the Blackhawk have been using this code for some time.  I believe it legitimately belongs to the former.

You don't say what receiver/database you're using, but whichever one it is, it will only allow you to assign the code to one airframe.

KCRQ-11

I have it corrected on my Virtual Radar database as the UH60 I visually saw and confirmed via voice comm with pilot on 2/27/2023. I notic it a lot on the adsbexchage.com site as a Lockheed Martin HC-130J Combat King II.

The vertical profile will usually give a good clue as to which of the two users of the code is being picked up at any given time.

AE61FB was flying circles above New Orleans today; it was definitely a C-130 variant though I couldn't say what exactly it was from 10,000 feet away. Seems like that it was 17-5877, an AC-130J, because it took off and returned to Hurlburt Field, FL (KHRT), home of 4th Special Ops Squadron which operates AC-130Js. c-130.net says this tailcode is from 4 SOS.

The 17-5878 bird mentioned previously appears to be assigned to 102 RQS out of Gabreski Airport (KFOK) in New York state, though c-130.net erroneously says it's an MC-130J rather than an HC-130J.

I don't think so, given that the quoted C-130 serial doesn't exist.

Hi Dave

Whops yes you are correct, as i was just reading again that the person did a typo in there message,
so i do apologise for the duff info.
serial should read 15-5878.
Reading on that there is a batch of C30J using UH-60 Hex codes which is also adding to confusion

Best wishes
