I also saw this and was wondering what Air Navs response was going to be.

What's that I smell from Airnav's reply??

Is it sheep, no goat, no wait a minute, it's only the usual patronising bullsh*t

The Blue Puck can't be on sale quick enough then it's ta-ta to this perpetual disinformation and Brandao can sit in his office and talk to himself.

And as expected, the standard inconclusive AirNav response:

"Work is still progressing, more details will be announced nearer the release."

Do I believe this? Definitely not.

I wonder if Boeing or Airbus replied in a similar vein when their customers asked about a new aircraft?

In Airbis's case they probably did with the launch of the A380  ;D

Quote"Work is still progressing, more details will be announced nearer the release."

Being progressed by whom?  is the doorman at their plush US mail address knocking this together in his tea breaks?

This lot can't even get a decent database up and running so how the hell are they going to manage something like mlat?

Lies and yet more lies spouteth from Air Nav.

I see Runway 31, AirNav's tame updater and general factotum, has kicked off its winter PR campaign to backtrack on Mlat:

"I dont believe there is any box on the market at this time that can MLAT without PP so to get an MLAT capability you will require a receiver and PP.  It is my belief that for Radarbox to get an MLAT capability an entirely new receiver is required as you will not be able to get the function with a software upgrade alone.

It should also be stated that MLAT is entirely dependant on having sufficent similarly equipped users in your area to enable triangulation to assist in determining the approximate position of a non ADSB equipped but MODE-S equipped aircraft."

Oh well, that idea's now screwed.

There aren't that many people uses a Radarbox anywhere, let alone 'sufficient similarly equipped in your area'

Will someone turn off the lights at Air Nav on the way out and don't slam the door! ::)

Incorrect - requires at least three Ground Stations providing raw data to PP - they can be anywhere (subject to sufficient spread) as long as they are receiving the subject aircraft.

I would guess the poster is referring to AirNav's implementation of Mlat which might only work with other RadarBoxes.  Unlike PP which works with any suitable receiver.

Anyway, it's all academic as I doubt AirNav Mlat will get delivered.  Too busy trying to launch products that no one wants and, I suspect, it's too much of a technical challenge for the part-time CEO and chief bull****ter.
