Hi,

Does someone know if there is any information as to what these 8 different firmware options are ?

Anmer

This is no more than a guess!

Perhaps firmware for the different SBS-1 and Puck hardware models?

SBS-1 5 volt
SBS-1 12 volt
SBS-1e
SBS-1eR
Puck 1090
Puck SDR
SBS-3

Hmm, I was thinking it might be perhaps different radio models support

I don't think so.

Basestation was developed to only work with Kinetic's own hardware, some of which had an in-built SDR.

In BaseStation under Settings/Install Firmware Options one can enter a license code.

I'm just curious if such a code, if entered, would enable additional features in BaseStation.

I've had an SBS-1 since 2005 and all the other models that came along afterwards.  Never, ever, entered a licence code.  Never seen one.

And since Kinetic Avionics is no longer active, there's no chance of getting a code.

The only "additional features" in Basestation is the radio panel, if you're connected to a Kinetic receiver with an in-built SDR.  There's nothing else.

I did have a license code and it enabled the serial comunication between the SBS-1 and a scanner in my case the AOR.

That's interesting.  Do you remember who issued the code and was it chargeable?

There's no mention of a radio licdnce code in the BaseStation Reference Manual.

That came from Martin Lynch and it was based on the unit's serial number. That was what the .biu files were there for. The scanner needed to be one of those Icom's or AOR's. I believe only the original SBS-1 had a 9-pin sub-d connector that could be used for this purpose.

Thanks Dave.

The lastest BaseStation Reference Manual also mentions Firmware Option Licence Code.

Not sure what "future features" are supported or from where to purchase them?

Very interesting.

Altho I never had to enter any such code, it does show on mine Option 1 is enabled.

I am not sure what option 1 does on my 5V SBS1.
