Hi

If you are configured to receive VDL2 on a Raspberry Pi feeding UDP message data to PlanePlotter, and if you are within range of a VDL2 base station, you might be interested in the changes in version 6.6.9.8 of PlanePlotter, on the server now.

https://www.coaa.co.uk/planeplotter6_6_9_8.zip

It now watches for VDL2 messages to aircraft instucting them to change the VHF AM voice frequency to use.
The allocated voice frequency and control authority will then be displayed in the Pop up information box if you hover over the aircraft icon.
You can also now display the current VHF frequency, if allocated, in the aircraft label (Options..Chart..Options [frq]).
If you have installed SDR++ and have included the optional "Rigctl server" plug in, then any frequency change instruction sent via VDL2 to an aircraft that you have currently "designated" (double click), then PlanePlotter will retune SDR++ to the new voice frequency automatically.
There is also an additional parameter in the OLE/COM interface that PlanePlotter presents, allowing an external script to read the allocated voice frequency for each active aircraft (parameter 43 of GetPlaneData etc.).
There is also an addiitonal noun in the Conditional Expression parser "voice frequency" or "frq", which you can use, for example, to generate an alert if a particular frequency is allocated or to display only those aircraft that are operating on a specific voice frequency.

It's a bit niche so I may be the only user that can take advantaqage of this new feature, but I mention it in case it is useful to someone.

Regards
Bev
