HI HAS ANYONE TAKEN THERE BASE STATION TO EYGPT BEFORE IS IT ADVISEABLE

I think someone did about 20 years ago and got jailed.  Kinetic got them deported!

Not advisable to take any electronic devices including cameras to foreign lands at this time.
Remember just because you are British, does not stop the full force of another countries laws
from jailing you for any crime they think fits a crime.

I think they would look at spying, which in some countries means life terms or even execution.

Oldenglish1,

I would really advise not to take sbs, as MHM has explained and pretty bang on with his reply.
I had an experience a few years back when i worked over in Qatar and took my sbs,
fortunately i escaped the questioning etc about that as they were more interested in
my telescope and camera equipment, no matter how much you try to explain they seemed to me
anyway that they couldn't understand.
Definitely do not say if you take a camera it is for taking pictures of aircraft.
I told them it was for scenery and sunsets etc.
