I'm  a new user and I have a question or two. I'm using a microADSB with the antenna indoors temporarily sitting up about six feet high. I'm trying to determine how far out I can track aircraft. It seems that PP will continue to show the aircraft tracking on the map even though it's been 10 minutes or more since  it last received a signal. I'm guessing it extrapolates from the last couse and speed. Is this true? I do not have sharing on. I know PP is using the microADSB because I can disconnect it and it stops showing aircraft in the Aircraft View. Is there any way I can determine the distance I'm tracking?

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill.

This section in the PP Wiki might help you...

http://planeplotter.pbworks.com/w/page/17117300/Customising%20the%20display#Whydoaircraftdisappearorstaytoolong

I suspect it's a combination of the 'Omit aircraft after', Delete aircraft after' and 'Predict positions over' settings.

The inbuilt PP help is also worth a read as that has information about these settings too.

Cheers,

Keef.

Thanks, I'll play with the settings. I've been reading the help, but there are so many options and things I'm still learning about.

For some reason, maybe it's something I did, but my home location on the chart has moved even though I haven't changed it and I did double check it twice to be sure. I checked and all of the calibration points are still there, so I'm scratchin' my head with my hind foot.

Is your home location in the right place on an Outline?

Also use the Test option under Options->Home Location->Home Location Setup.

Hope you manage to get it sorted Bill.

PP is a great bit of software with lots of settings and features.
However with all the options it provides it's not easy when starting out, at least it wasn't for me!

Keep at it, it's worth the effort  :)

Also it might be worth joining the PP Yahoo! group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/planeplotter/ if you haven't already.

Cheers,

Keef.

Yes, as I said, I checked the Home position setup twice, and for good measure, again just now. I also recalibrated the map and now I don't see my Home Position at all. I rechecked the Home position and it's still the same. I just bought the microADSB to play with, but I've decided it's not worth the aggravation and it's going up for sale.

Thanks to all who replied.
