I noticed this interesting map today - No feeds from Thailand in Radarbox24.

Their map really looks unique !

I am very proud of the map showing areas around WSSS.

Amazing how a business screws up big time.

The RadarBox software has some good features.  It was the first to offer data sharing (at a cost) when Kinetic kept telling us it would be banned and no one wanted it.

It offered aircraft photos with a central database of registrations etc and routes.  On paper, a good product.

But AirNav Systems alienated its customers, first by stifling feedback on its forum and promising the earth but delivering nothing.

Brandao (the CEO) ignored his customers, the very people he needed to engage with to ensure continued data feeding and network subscriptions.

Despite a long list of bugs, let alone requested new features, he preferred to invest development resource in ShipTrax (remember that?) and then RadarBox24.  He even started giving away RadarBoxes to try and improve coverage.

When that made no difference, he invited data feeds from other receivers, whose data he could on-sell to RadarBox customers and feed RadarBox24.  And AirNav has sold our data to other businesses.

Finally, in what might be the final act of a dying business, he released a RadarBox software beta which removed access to the database unless we had a network subscription or shared our data.  That was the only new feature, nearly 4 years since the last software release.  And after all this time, the beta introduced more bugs than it fixed.  What a total shambles.

And a totally flawed business model.

Sales of RadarBox receivers and RadarBox24 apps depend on a reliable and growing population of data feeders, expanding its flight coverage.  And the successful launch of the RadarBox Mark 2 receiver, with MLAT, Ethernet, radio and ACARS decoding, will rely on existing customers upgrading as well as reaching new ones.

But with its reputation in tatters and all but a handful of customers deserting, AirNav has shot itself it the foot, yet again.

If you disagree, just compare RadarBox24 to Flightradar24 or Planefinder.

As Birdie has shown, there are noticeable gaps in coverage.

Brandao should have listened instead of banning us from his forum and threatening to sue.

Maybe he should stick to the day job?  His business credentials are crap.

Not going to happen.  RadarBox is dead in the water and I doubt there will be many future sales (especially if people read what we have to say about them on this site).  RB24 is also, IMHO, dead in the water.  As for APPS, There are quite a few already out there that people are using and I don't think bringing out another one helps anyone.

The words 'successful launch' and 'RadarBox' should never appear in the same sentence, EVER!  It's almost a given that the bastard son of RadarBox, let's call it Mark2, will never be more than a pipe dream in the empty head of the company owner.  If he can't sort out what should be relatively simple problems with RadarBox, what hope do any of his customers have when he's got to try and solve problems involving radio and MLAT, to name just two.  No existing Air Nav customer is going to be foolish enough to give Brandao any more of his hard earned cash and get butt kicked for a second time.  Oh, hang on, maybe there is one I can think of.

Bottom line (if you'll excuse the pun) is that Brandao has 'bent us over' for just far too long and I for one hope Air Nav goes out of business in the not too distant future.

By heck I feel better for that!! :)

I spoke to a friend who is the owner of a Funeral Home and he has agreed to reserve his BesTEST Funeral Lorry for AirNav's funeral.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport ( West Malaysia ) used to be covered by THREE Feeders. Now only 1 feeder is feeding data.

I guess the other 2 feeders realised their HOURLY Power Consumption of 200 Watts to run a PC feeding data to Radarbox24 is NOT worth the trouble and decided to pull the Power Switch to OFF.

May I introduce Brandao to this specialist clinic ?
