Cam,

Are you aware they sell The Beast assembled as the Transponder Mouse?

Cam, testing done by Francois using the PCB antenna he makes and sells shows that the R820T dongle is not that far off the Beast in terms of sensitivity, and at a fraction of the cost.

You could join either or both the Beast and RTL1090 Yahoo forum groups for more information.

Viking9,

Yep looked at the site but for 500 odd euros ........ the mouse does look good though!

Maybe a second-hand Beast may come up???

Beth, might have a look at your suggestion....

I'm pretty sure only the Beast or Transponder Mouse can receive Mode A/C.

PP Help:

Beamfinder Plus
Currently, only the "Beast" and the SBS3 receivers provide Mode-A/C data in a format that this feature can use.

The R820T dongle in conjunction with JetVision's RTL1090 software will decode both mode s and mode a/c. The dongle also provides the correct time tag so it can be used for multilateration with PP.

Unfortunately their website product details haven't been updated for a while, so I think it would be fair to say they're not strictly accurate in light of recent hardware and software developments.
