It's a receiver built specially for FR24 and not yet available on the market. It's based on the Beast receiver together with a BeagleBone computer and GPS (for MLAT time synchronization).

The ADS-B receiver that we are sending out is a special Flightradar24 branded unit developed by makers of the Mode-S Beast. The Flightradar24 Box is compact (measuring just 100x60x30mm). It connects directly to your router/modem by Ethernet cable. It doesn't need a PC to run and we supply an external Mode-S antenna, all cables including a GPS antenna for data timing precision.

Yes, MLAT will be released as part of the FR24 Premium offer in a couple of weeks. The first MLAT units are up and running, and we need to make some more testing before it can be released.
Right now we have MLAT coverage in central Sweden and Poland.

This looks like the "Radarcape" project in another guise. Gunther did say something would be available at the end of 2012/start of 2013.

A very interesting development.

yup. definitely the radarcape supplied to FR24, customized.  Mlat for FR24... going head on with PP?

Looking forward to Feb/March (or bit longer?) where it should be available. Can't wait to see its functions.

Brian

The price hasn't been released to the public yet...

[Update from FR24 Mike]

QuoteThe sale of the FR24 unit has been postponed until MLAT is ready, as hardware MLAT will make this receiver something special, and not just another ADS-B receiver.

First plan was Feb/March. Later we planned to release it ASAP, which would be February, but now we have definitely decided to wait for MLAT.
MLAT is still planned for February and sale of FR24 receiver just after that (March).
