TACKRILL

Hi to all,

Just got back into the hobby with a dongle receiver & planeplotter software after about 4 years without a receiver  :(

I've got my unit up & running but need help with some charts & waypoints. Is there anyone out there that can tell me where to find some decent quality UK airways charts, waypoints outlines etc that don't fuzz up when zooming! I'm also interested in setting up my router (Sky Sagem unit) for Mlat's but I'm not too technical & I'm a bit windy about going into my router settings on my own? Is there anyone that could give me some assistance off group?

Mlat is amazing... last saw Mlat working at Tom Drake's before he went off to Ireland.

Cheers
Dave

Welcome Dave.

PP "charts" will always "fuzz up" on zooming in and out.  They're just images not vector charts.

Outlines (.out) files will suffer zooming as long as you refresh the screen afterwards.

For Mlat you only need to open port 9742.  I'm happy to help you remotely as long as you have the login for your router config/setup.

Hello moonie31 & Anmer!

Thanks for the help & welcome messages.
Anmer.... I'll drop you a PM regards helping out with the router settings for MLAT so we can agree a mutually good time/day. I'm sure I could probably sort it myself but just need a helping hand.

For charts in PP, I have taken screen captures covering increasingly greater areas from my home position and then use the quick chart option to switch between them. That way avoids zooming out which causes the blurring of bitmaps.

You do have to calibrate the maps but that is not too difficult.

The UK en route charts might be suitable for what you want or the maps downloadable within PP plus an overlay of the waypoints.

But quick charts solve the problem for me.

If you want good airways maps try http://skyvector.com/

Click on World Hi or World Low at the top right of the map and Zoom in to the area and size you want, then save the screen.
