Downloaded Bs 175 cd from Kinetic onto my new computer, windows 8. downloaded AD but cant find the SQB in the basestation file.?

I think the basestaion.sqb file gets created when basestation.exe is run for the first time:

Where did you install Basestation?

I think Win 8 employs the dreaded Virtual Store?

BS is Running fine

The "active" Basestation.sqb file will be in the corresponding Virtual Store location.  You need to expose that folder and point AD at it.  Google "Virtual Store Location".

As it's a new install it might be worth starting again and installing to a directory outside of the 'Program Files' structure.

Could save you hassle down the line...
