Yet More AirNav Service Disruption

AirNav service disruption has become such a regular occurence no one bothers to report it.  The 3D has been "missing" for some days and email alerts went AWOL last week.

But I just saw this post on the AirNav forum which I'll reproduce here as it's the sort that gets deleted.  I've sent the Advertising Standards Authority a copy too.

"I had a little chuckle to myself today, if I may be so bold, I will quote from the Waters & Stanton advert in the April issue of "Radiouser" here in the UK:

"Why are customers switching to RadarBox? It offers 3-D Google Earth Maps. It's reliable and rugged, is regularly updated, needs no add ons & automatically shares data world wide." It's the obvious choice!

Well I'm sorry but for the best part of £500 it most certainly is not reliable, a long outage over the Christmas period and what is now appearing to be a similar outage, is that classed as reliable to have two long outages in the space of 4 months? The 3-D aspect of the product is what drew me to it, I'm not interested in watching aircraft movements on the other side of the world, or, whether an aircraft's routing is dead accurate, if my box is picking it up I want to be able to see it in 3D on my screen, sorry but that's what I paid for !!

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Waters & Stanton for repairing my RadarBox when it went deaf and the SAW filter needed to be replaced, what was that about reliability ?

Hopefully by the time I post this message my 3D service will be up and running and I can eat my words, but in the meantime, I hope your sub-contractor or equipment provider can come up with a solution soon.

A very disapointed customer."

Alan,

I agree, that it's two completely different products. But from the past we know that AirNav only seems to have a very small DEV team that is working on all those different things (e.g. ShipTrax, server crashes, RadarBox24 and RadarBox). So to me it seems that AirNav still focuses on developing new products and not really on finalising a new version of the RadarBox software.
But I am not surprised about that anymore.
Actually I will be very surprised if there will be a new Radarbox version within the next 3 years. It's been already more than half a year since AirNav said they were going to fix the existing bugs as soon as possible. And it has been many years since those bugs have been reported.
In terms of bugfixing a product AirNav is the worst company I ever dealt with!

And honestly, it doesn't help me to read about very slow progress and bad excuses why there is still no new release. The only thing that would me is a fixed version of the software. I don't care about all the internal processes and why they are so bad.
And this statement "As one of the testers I would not agree to the release of a beta in such a condition." doesn't sound like there will be a new version soon. Sounds more to me as if the dev team doesn't really know what they're doing and making it even worse.

And if AirNav wanted to tell us something useful they would tell us what has already been fixed and which issues are still outstanding. So that we can get an impression of how many things still need to be done to be able to estimate how long that might take. Everything else is simply useless!
