Air raid: Manchester Airport launches advertising campaign in rival city

Manchester Airport has launched a poster campaign in Liverpool – to win back passengers from John Lennon Airport.

Bosses say that over a million passengers from Greater Manchester 'betrayed' them last year to fly from the likes of Liverpool and also Birmingham airports.

They now want them to return to their local airport – and are also going after new passengers from Liverpool and the Midlands.

Chiefs are putting up posters in St Helens, Warrington, Knowsley and Huyton – and billing Manchester as the low-cost airport of the north.

They are also describing themselves as the global gateway of northern England – and say they offer flights to over 200 destinations, served by 65 airlines.
