A MILITARY air crew from Boscombe Down flew the last remaining BAC 1-11 aircraft into history as they donated it to a museum in Cornwall.

QinetiQ, which operates and managed the airfield on behalf of the MoD, has donated the British designed aircraft to the Classic Air Force museum to be preserved for future generations to view and enjoy.

It was flown to Newquay on April 26 and captained by Flt Lt Mark Hasted, a Boscombe Down trials pilot. Built in 1980, it was used by British Airways on short-haul domestic routes with five crew and up to 119 passengers
