Using Virtual Radar Server to feed PlanePlotter

I prefer the logging options of VRS over those of PP, but I prefer PP for everything else.

So I was wondering is there any way to use VRS to feed PP, or vice versa?

I would be using my Beast to do it.

Thanks.

I'll send you to one of your own posts  ;)

If you point PlanePlotter at the Rebroadcast Server  sending out BaseStation output, it should work.

Thanks for pointing out that I'm going senile  :'(  :D
When I try to set up the TCP/IP settings on PP, PP just crashes. So the problem with rebroadcasting the data to VRS lies with PP, or more likely, with a driver or port setting that Win8.1 doesn't like.

Just tested it (on Win7):

If VRS is showing data from your Beast.

In PP, I/O set receiver as SBS1/RB3 TCP

In PP, Option set ModeS receiver/Kinetic/SBS1 IP and then enter IP address with port number for BS output from VRS. eg: 192.168.0.137:33002

Worked for me.

If VRS and Planeplotter are on same PC, shouldn't be an issue of anything blocking ports.

If it still doesn't work, agree Win8 problem. Need to install that sometime  :(

Thanks for the help Ian.

I was wondering if there is a way to send the data from the Beast to PP first, and then onto VRS?

I read somewhere else that if you rebroadcast it from VRS to PP it throws out beamfinding and mlat on PP?

If PP is running from the Beast, you can set PP to output data to a designated port, such as 30003.  The run VRS looking for data on port 30003.

I don't have PP on this desktop so can't confirm where it is.  In PP Help try searching for "secondary server".

Mike is correct.

OK, same principle. In PP set up Beast as ModeS receiver. You might need to include both the IP address and port that the Beast outputs on. Select Beast receiver TCP/IP in PP I/O.

Also in I/O there is an option for TCP/IP server. Click the Enable check box and it will output on port 30003 (or another port if you change the value).

In VRS set up data source in Options/Data Source. Select IP address and port to match the output from PP (test connection!).

Done.
