It would be nice to have a Basestation 2, as talked about back in the early days. I realise and appreciate that Kinetic need to keep up with the competitors and also to make money, but I find most of the improvements are aimed at specific areas, i.e. SDR Sharp, I have a very limited interest in these type improvements and I would just like to see and have improvements in the functionality of Basestation, such as in Anmer's list at the beginning of this thread, as I am sure I am not the only one who has supported Kinetic from Day 1, SBS-1, SBS-1E and now SBS-3, who just use the SBS to watch and monitor aircraft.

Same here.
Only wish has ever been floating windows. The ability to detach the radar display from the aircraft list to size and place on different screens is a priority.

Connect SBS3 via ethernet and get airband scanning from PP , plus a floating a/c list and many more enhancements not found in Basestation.

Many of the things in the wish list have been achieved via PP

At a cost.

This thread is about the Basestation Wish List, not a promotional opportunity to sell PP licences.  ;)

Precisely , but why cut off your nose , to spite your face ?
You have just spent hundreds of pounds on an SBS then whinge about what it won't do via Basestation .

Seems a bit pointless.......if Basestation can't do all the things on the wishlist , find something that can.

Anmer

I bought a PP licence and as good as it is, I would prefer to see Basestation enhanced rather than use PP instead.

My two pen'orth...

All Mike's original suggestions plus:

Add the Toggle Full Screen mode button to the main toolbar (at present it's only available on the sidebar which I don't use as it takes up valuable screen space)

BaseStation Reporter - a fix to the annoying bug where the First/Last Squawk columns ignore leading zeroes in the squawk codes i.e. a squawk of, for example 0013 is displayed as 13.

I'm with Arno and Anmer on this one, knowing you were in on this in the early days of B/S as well.
But we bought into Basestation as early as it was available. If someone puts a thread here on what you would like improving then that will get answers.
I have always been happy with Basestation. Preference is for it to be standalone and I don't feel the need to have addons and feeds. Since its implementation, facilities like dual/multiple monitors have become more affordable and practical, hence the software has not really kept up with hardware improvements. Thus follows the need now for floating screens as most other windows software offers this facility. Can it be so hard to program it.

For me I'd like to see BaseStation re-designed to include more features  (floating windows for one) but to meet my current requirements of monitoring Mlat contacts on a map I need to use PP.  So combination of the two does what I want, would be great to have one doing everything...   (including DB, Reporting, AD etc)

Other minor example I'd like to see, think its on Radarbox software, de-conflicting of contact tags on map screen.

Can you imagine how good everything would be if BaseStation, PP and Active Display shared all data fields !!  Loads still awaiting further use currently within AD.

Have to say I can't see us ever getting a "new" version of BaseStation with all our wish list items, maybe just tweaked around the edges.
Running SBS-3 and Planeplotter code: F4

I have to agree, if it was on the cards we would probably have heard something about it.

But given the debacle that was the Puck launch even if there was an announcement we'd probably have to wait a year or more for it to be available...

Cheers,

Keef.

Chris I just don't see this product line moving forward on hardware alone, it's not about the receiver any more, and with a significant software upgrade, which I would happily pay for well just might help keep the lights on and save your ass at this point in the game.

It's too bad you have no real support from Kinetic Dave. My hope for you is you don't come out of this to beat-up.

Cheers
