From Bev at COAA (concerning PlanePlotter):

Longitudes passed through the sharing system that were outside of the +-100 degrees range, were limited in precision to 0.001 degrees - about 100 metres.  This meant that if you zoomed in to airport scale outside of those longitudes (eg Australia and the western half of USA) the aircraft tracks would be quantized in longitude by that amount.

Closer to the Greenwich meridian, the precision in longitude was 10 metres, so the effect was not discernible.

I have now altered the precision in the database on the server so that users beyond  +-100 degrees longitude will now enjoy the same precision as those closer to the meridian.

I am grateful to Bob Peake in Australia for drawing my attention to this problem.

Bev
