Alert for only one aircraft

Hello everyone,

As there are two F18's in Belgium this week, I would like to setup PlanePlotter so I only receive an alert when an aircraft type 'F18' is flying nearby.

This is easy, but the problem is that I also have other aircraft in my alert list and I don't want to delete them out of the list.

Is there any method to keep all the aircraft in the alert list, but let only show an alert for the F18?

Best regards,
TTECH

Hi Tibo,

I think you need to look at the conditional expressions (CondEx) part of the help file.

I assume you are setting your current alerts using the chart options dialog box? You may need to consider moving to using ConEx's.

You can set up a file called 'condex.txt' it's a plain text file and is saved into the main PP folder. You could add in a couple of lines to alert first on your current list and on a second line add in the F18's.

The convention is that each line is represented by a No. so pressing 1 on your keyboard activates the first line of the file, pressing 2 uses the second and so on. You can have up to 10 lines.

Maybe something like Alert:typ="F18"

Don't forget you can also use a set of conditional expressions that are set up via Options>>Conditional Expressions>>   Once you have a CondEx active there will be an asterisk in the status bar - bottom right.

Hope this is helpful.

Hello Triple7,

Thanks for the reply.

I have created a condex.txt file with Alert:type="A320" in it (just for testing) and placed it in the main folder (where radar.txt file is located).
Strange, but nothing happens when I press '1' on my keyboard.

Am I missing something?

It's a while ago since I set-up my Condex.txt and I can't remember whether you just need to stop and start PP processing or you need to close the program and re-open it. You need to get the program to read the condex.txt file before it will work.

Restarting the software doesn't solve the problem.

Seems like it's working now, I had to press the number on my numpad instead of on top of keyboard :)

Problem is that I still get other alerts.
But I suppose I have to delete all my alerts and place them in the condex file?

Yes, that's correct as you want to be able to select a different alert at different times.

You can also use TellMe addon for temporary alerts.
