Nice piece of aviation history.

I was on the first flight to the US from Birmingham after the UK flight ban was lifted. My recollection was half a dozen Continental stewardesses jubilant to be heading back home to their families after an enforced stay in Blighty, and a lot of cheering when the plane lifted off from the runway

Is that during the time when Iceland re-paid its loan to Europe with ASH instead of Cash by sending its volcanic ash to Europe ?
