Military jets have escorted a passenger plane to Manchester Airport after reports of a possible device on board, police said.

The plane was escorted by the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a result of information received by the pilot.

Greater Manchester Police said they were treating it as a "full emergency" as officers did not know "know how genuine this threat is".

Possibly QTR23 from Doha, A333 A7-AEH, hex 06A042.

Airport was closed after it landed and a TCX flight had to divert.

Don't you love the Aviation "Expert" who says, "Yes, the fighter jet has to fly close to the aircraft in order to see into the passenger cabin."...

I've always wondered why they send up a fighter escort when they suspect there is a bomb on board. I mean, why would you want to lose a fighter if the airliner blows up?
