Aircraft crash in mid-air near A1 in Bedfordshire

Two single-seater light aircraft have collided in mid-air over Bedfordshire and one has crashed to the ground.

The collision happened at Tempsford near the Black Cat roundabout at the A1 and A421 junction but there is no information on casualties.

Police were called at 08:30 BST and said one aircraft crashed near Rectory Farm on Barford Road.

The other aircraft was able to carry on flying and land safely at Thurleigh airfield.
