EasyJet charging passengers £10 'administration fee' for letters proving flights were cancelled

Air passengers struggling to gain compensation for delays during a French strike are being charged £10 by easyJet for proof their flights were cancelled.

The budget airline said the fee covered the "legitimate" cost of the "individually researched" letters containing details needed for insurance claims.

An email sent to one customer seen by the Daily Mail said: "We can certainly send you a letter to help you claim on your insurance, that's not a problem.

"There is a small administration fee of 10GBP for the letter, which you should be able to claim back through your insurer."
