Hi, I run Active display and now and again it freezes up and I get a SD22 message. Today I had a message"SD22 Flights for new session cannot be found. Please (re)start Basestation, conversion from string 'M' to type 'date' not valid" BS carries on running ok but sometimes when this happens and I close BS down to re-start it the database doesn't get updated from the moment it freezes. I run a SBS3 along with AD and PlanePlotter.

Any ideas anyone? I wondering whether I've got a dodgy database.

Cheers

Hi,

I get a very similar message:
SD22 Flights for new session cannot be found. Please (re)start Basestation, Parameter not valid

I find that if I pause AD and deselect the Photo montage button "The green camera icon" and then click the start icon , AD will then continue and there is no need to restart basestation.

But as for the reason why the message appears, I really don't know.

Hi, yes it is a bit weird, I don't actually have the camera icon selected. In fact sometimes when AD freezes I can't close it down and have to go in to Task Manager to close it down, very strange.

Is there anyway I can check to see if I've got a corrupt data base? I am still getting the "SD22" message which I posted last year but now it seems to be happening every time I use AD. In addition if I run a report on BS reporter some of the messages on that are jumbled up, which makes me wonder if I have got a corrupt database

Are you updating your SQB file with data from any other source, such as PlaneBase?

My primary source of updating is dbpop but I also use AD to populate and planebase.

Anmer

Thanks.

I think it's Planebase that creates or amends a record in the sqb file that upsets AD.  They don't live happily together.

This thread may explain more:

Thanks for the link Mike, I've downloaded Sqliteexpert and over the next 24hrs I will have a go and see if I can fix the problem by the ways suggested. I like AD, I like the way it displays the sessions, hopefully I can get it up and running again.

I've seem to have fixed the problem by using the SqlSqliteexpert, AD has been running all day and it hasn't crashed.

Thanks for the update Peter.

Hello Peter

Please could you let me know what you did to fix the problem. I've had the same issue for a number of months and also use Planebase and dbpop to update my SQB file.

Many thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel, all I did was follow the link that Anmer gave me a couple of messages back http://kinetic.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=16527&hilit=planebase&sid=92341c5f80ee433f2cc98f5b2da0a881&start=15#p138487  and then read the item on that link and downloaded SqlSqliteexpert. It would seem that planebase has been causing problems to AD on "userString4". I'm no expert and haven't used SqlSqliteexpert before but carefully following the instructions given by "Caravelle" it seems to work. There is another method using PBlink itself that can solve the problem but that has to be done if PBlink is used again and if you are also using AD. I don't know if the problem you are having is the same as mine but it might be worth giving it a go. I am just going to use dbpop and AD for now.

Nigel

Thank you Peter, unfortunately I'm not registered on the Kinetic forum so can't access the messages with the instructions. I've tried to register numerous times but always get an error message saying my email address already exists.

Most forums allow Guests to read posts but some Boards on the Kinetic forum won't, which is strange.

Since Kinetic isn't approving new members, here's the text of the message.  In posting this I fully acknowledge the source with the link provided.

Many thanks to Barry, this will come in very useful, and I hope he won't mind if I quote it when people complain to AD support about the problem. Though really it should be the people who caused it, and are now causing it deliberately by conscious choice rather than through ignorance, who should come up with the answers and deal with the queries. There is a new version of PBLink, who knows what further problems will arise ?

PS. If using an sqlite editor such as the excellent Sqlite Expert Personal on a BaseStation.sqb with BaseStation shut down it should be possible to get rid of the PBLink changes to UserString4, whilst retaining existing record expiry dates placed in the field by AD. Try this sql statement:

UPDATE Aircraft SET UserString4 = NULL WHERE length(UserString4) < 4

This basically says restore the value to null (which is the default for this field) if the current value is less than 4 characters - as all dates are much longer than 4 characters, any existing dates will be left alone. I have not tested it yet, but when I get a chance to shut down BaseStation I'll give it a go.
