I'll try over here as nobody seems alive over on the kinetic forums.

Hi, try as I might I can't get ethernet working. As far as I know I have everything set correctly and yet no joy. My router is set as 192.168.0.1 so I've set the non volatile memory to 192.168.0.170 (well within range) and the gateway as 192.168.0.1. Hardware settings is the same and both port settings are 10001. DHCP address is 192.168.0.1 on the router.
I then connect the ethernet cable, switch to data source, use network and nothing. My router does not see the sbs-3 and I see no way of getting into the sbs-3 to change ip address or even see what it is. I'm on software 1.2.4.185, Firmware Version SBS-3 build 118. Any help gratefully accepted.
Oh yeah, the router is a D-Link DIR-845L.

Hi Rick

How are you powering the unit? It needs to be a power supply not a computer!
Did you run it up on USB first?

IanH

Also try something simple:

Type
ping 192.168.0.170
in a command window (or Windows search box).

You can also try pinging 192,168.0.1 (the router) to see what the response should look like,

If you see responses that say something like "Reply from 192.168.0.171: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128" at least you have a connection to the SBS-3.

Thanks Chris that was the bit I was missing, the separate power supply.

Just for reference....

Leave the ethernet cable plugged in. Make sure you plug in the red USB to a suitable power source

Plug in the black USB cable, make sure you are using USB as data source (USB shuts down power to ethernet port)

Settings
NVM config:-
Set IP 192.168.0.170
Subnet 255.255.255.0
GW 192.168.0.1
tick SBS-3 as server - port 30003

Settings
Data source - Use Network

Pull the black USB cable and make sure the ethernet light comes on on the SBS-3

You should be good to go. I didnt have to make any changes on my router.
