Hello there.

Greetings from Mexico City.

Long time airplane spotter/aviation photographer/ACARS decoder junkie and atc aficionado. What was there to do? get into radarspotting.

Acouple of weeks ago, I got an official FLightAware T-shirt, along with the usual hardware (flight feeder V, antenna, etc.) and got around to set it up.

The antenna is placed under the end of the final turn to MEX approach to 05R/L Runways, (5 DME away), so traffic is high on a daily basis.

The feeder is connected to FlightAware's site and feeding information automatically, but I am using planeplotter to connect to the feeder to see what can be done with the data.  I seem to have problems updating the local database, so I turned to BaseStation to try, but the feeder won't connect with basestation.  That's as far as I got on these two weeks of feeding.

Looking forward to learn a lot about radarspotting and I'm counting on the community to point me in the right direction on this forum.

Thanks for any help and I will see you on the skies around MEX.

Welcome and thanks for the informative introduction.

BaseStation expects decoded data from an SBS-1/3 or Puck receiver.  The FlightFeeder output is not usable.

You can use the BaseStation database with PlanePlotter.  It's an SQL database named BaseStation.sqb which PlanePLotter can reference without the BaseStation.exe running.  You can view and edit the BaseStation.sqb file using BaseStationReporter or any SQL editor such as SQLite Expert Personal.

You may be able to use ModeSMixer to output the FlightFeeder data to BaseStation but I would suggest posting a question in the relevant forum board as I have no personal experience of using this utility.  But others here have.

Hi mislik and welcome.

I've posted some info in the ModeSMixer and ModeSDeco section  http://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php/topic,5509.0.html  which I hope might be of use to you.

Thank you both for your kind answers.

I'll be trying your suggestions for sure.

This is going to be the beginning of a very interesting adventure in spotting.
