Hello from Warwick!

Hi can anyone help me change the IP address on my SBS1er?

I have just upgraded my router and the default 192.168.1.170 no longer works.
I tried to change it myself but am unable to log into Lantronix XPort. Can anyone help please?

Hi Thanks. I tried following the guide but when you try to type 192.168.1.170 into a web browser it can no longer contact lantronix, so I'm lost now

Two thoughts:

From a command prompt on your PC, type ipconfig. What is the IP address of your computer? That might make it easier to figure out how to fix this. PC probably getting a different IP address from the new router.

My second thought was wondering if the IP address can be changed by connecting via USB. But that doesn't help if you don't know the IP address of the computer so cancel that for now.

You may need to reset the Lantronix.  I can send you the utility if you still have a problem.

If you are still having problems you could try relaxing your subnet on the PC to 255.255.0.0, it's probably set to 255.255.255.0

Most routers will dish out a 192.168.x.x address, usually 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x
Along with a default network mask of 255.255.255.0.

What this does is lock down the IP address range available to you so if you are in 192.168.0.x you can only see 192.168.0.x and not 192.168.1.x.
It works the other way round too, if you are in 192.168.1.x you won't be able to reach 192.168.0.x.

Changing the network mask to 255.255.0.0 will allow a 192.168.0.x network to access a 192.168.1.x address and vice versa.

Might be worth a try if you are still having problems...

Thanks Keef.  My Guide also suggests "relaxing" the subnet address.

I think the Lantronix may need resetting.

Thanks to everyone "relaxing the sub net" did the trick. Bingo.Connected!!

Glad it's working.

Anmer's guide is something I read when I was getting started and it was (and still is) extremely valuable.
Maybe my subconscious held on to the word relaxed as it fits the scenario so well.

Cheers all   :)

Wasn't aware of that option. Netmask of 255.255.255.0 has been a mystery to me  :-[
