Hello folks, new to the forum and the SBS scene and looking for a bit of basic help for a beginner.

Couldn't decide if this should be here or the SBS 3 section.

Received a SBS 3 kit from TaylorMade and I'm not sure what antenna is the 1090 and what one is the SDR. One has 4 short ground planes approx 200mm long the other has none. I also have the mag mount antenna as well.

Any body help me, keen to have a go setting this up tonight!

Thanks all

Indeed I did purchase the base pack and this is where the confusion is setting in, I have received two similar looking poles as well as the mag mount antenna, and to confuse things further I also have a preamp and a bias T and power supply!

Do you think the antenna with the 4 ground planes will be for the SDR, the one shown in the pic only has 3...

Any chance you can post some pictures of what you have?  I can't see an antenna with four radials in the TMRF shop.

The preamp and Bias-T are easy and we can deal with that later.

But the TMRF shop shows the preamp in the SBS-3 Plus Pack:

But this lists the magmount and two antenna I mentioned earlier.

Thanks.

I think the one with the radials is for the SDR and the one without is the 1090.

The preamp is for the 1090, power fed up the coax using the Bias-T making sure the power side feeds the antenna.

The TMRF shop description doesn't match what you received.

Shouldn't the ADSB antenna have radials as well? Mine has 3 as mentioned.

Depends.  Mine don't.

The ones on the left and right are 1090 MHz.  The middle one is for the SDR.

But since TMRF appear to have shipped different ones to those listed in the online shop, who knows?

These don't have radials either:

Thank you all, I'll maybe drop TMRF a quick email to confirm what I have indeed received. Not managed to do anything with them yet other than install base station and some other bits and bobs on the pc.

Just connecting them up should tell you. You are not going to get much on BaseStation with the SDR antenna  ;D
