Embraer announced a major range increase for its Legacy 450 "midlight" jet that it says will allow it to "leapfrog" rival aircraft. The aircraft will now have a maximum range of 2,900 nm, an increase of 325 nm. By contrast, its larger sibling the Legacy 500 has a range of 3,125 nm and can carry two more passengers.

The upgrade, announced here in Las Vegas on Monday, comes from a combination of a minor change to the wing to allow it to accommodate more fuel, modification to the fuel control unit and flight manual, and an 82-foot longer takeoff roll to 3,907 feet at mtow. The increased range will be retrofittable to early serial number aircraft and, for now, the price of the aircraft remains unchanged at $16.57 million.

New Max Bolstering BBJ Sales

November 18, 2015

Boeing's new 737 Max program has captured the bulk of the new business for Boeing Business Jets this year, accounting for five of the seven of the orders taken in year-to-date. The orders included a contract for three Max 8s that Boeing Business Jets president David Longridge said was signed last week at the Dubai Air Show.

"The BBJ Max is doing really well, with nine orders already on the books for both BBJ Max 8s and BBJ Max 9s," Longridge said. Also newly announced is an order for a Max 8 from a customer in Asia.

The Boeing 737 Max program is slated for first flight next year, with initial deliveries to commercial customers expected in 2017 and to a Boeing Business Jets customer in 2018.

Airbus Beluga provides rare treat for aviation enthusiasts at Manchester Airport

18 NOV 2015

he giant dolphin of the skies took off from Manchester Airport .

An incredibly rare sighting for aviation enthusiasts, the Airbus Beluga's brief overnight stay followed its diversion after taking off from Hamburg on Tuesday.

Storm Barney had hit Chester and the wind made its landing at the Airbus factory in Hawarden impossible.

But Chester's loss was Manchester's gain as the bizarre looking plane caused a real stir at Manchester as it landed at around 6.15pm on Tuesday.

And on Wednesday, spotters were back out in force to catch its 2.50pm departure.

FAA offers steps to reduce NextGen plane noise

The Federal Aviation Administration has a technical three-phase plan for exploring ways to quiet new and noisy flight paths that have been irking Bay Area residents for months.

Similar complaints are being cried out across the country as the FAA rolls out its NextGen program at some airports. The FAA is upgrading to a satellite system and hopes to reduce air traffic congestion with more direct and condensed routing into airports, such as San Francisco International.

But NextGen causes too much noise pollution, affected Santa Cruz County residents say. They and elected officials have asked the FAA to make change

If any of those remarks from the other side were aimed at me. Legal action would have been taken by now.

David Cameron to get own plane for official trips

Prime Minister David Cameron and senior ministers are to get their own plane for official trips.
An RAF Voyager A330 air-to-air refueling aircraft will be refitted at a cost of about £10m.
The government says the move will save about £775,000 a year as the plane will be cheaper than chartering flights.
But Labour said the size of any savings would not be known until he started using the plane while the SNP urged full transparency.
