Damage claims piling up over Army's infamous runaway blimp

More trouble for the JLENS surveillance blimp. Two months after it broke loose in Aberdeen and floated away for hours, damage claims are now being filed

The aftermath could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Rick Ritter breaks it down.

Claims top $300,000 worth of damage and could cost even more when it's all said and done. The news comes just days after Congress decided to make big cuts to the program.

Bad Elf Crowd-funding Aims To Cut Cost of ADS-B IN Receivers

Bluetooth GPS manufacturer Bad Elf has launched a crowd-funding effort on Kickstarter to bring a low-cost and universally compatible portable ADS-B receiver to market. The Bad Elf receiver will come in four configurations, all with GPS: $299 for single-band 978 MHz (weather and traffic); $449 for 978 MHz with AHRS (attitude information); $449 for single-band 1090 MHz with AHRS (air-to-air traffic, for use outside the U.S. where ADS-B IN weather is not available); $549 for dual-band 978 and 1090 MHz with AHRS. These prices are for the Kickstarter effort. The Bad Elf Kickstarter ends on January 14 at 7 p.m.

I see the New Year hasn't dampened his enthusiasm for posting irresponsible, irrelevant and inflammatory "tosh".

Why Taylor Made RF Should Hang Up and stop selling Kinetic Aviation Product line(SBS-3,1090 Puck) in 2016.

Ever since nearly few years ago, Kinetic Aviation hasn't been able to compete with the other ADS-B Products.

Kinetic Aviation development ended years ago and hasn't seen any updates for many years.

* No BaseStation software updates in the last few years.
* No BaseStation Aircraft Database released for many years by Kinetic Aviation.
* Kinetic Aviation doesn't provide direct customer support.  They tell the distributor/dealers to provide support.  (Product support could be limited when the Distributor/Dealer sell many other products.)

Being a distant fourth place might not be a big deal for Kinetic Aviation.

** Other products from AirNav Systems,Radarcape,PlanePlotter, etc includes built-in aircraft database updating.
** Other ADS-B products provide their own customer support.

Taylor Made RF could start selling the updated ADS-B products like Radarcape, Flightfeeder/PiAware, AirNavSystems ComStation, Planevision, ADS-B R820T USB-Dongles, etc

Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Vehicles

The history of aircraft rescue firefighting (ARFF) vehicles can be traced back to 1937, when Chief J.K. Schmidt deomonstrated the capabilities of a high-pressure fog appliance at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida under the auspices of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

AIN Blog: 2015 Was A Year of Progress for Helicopter Technology

Last year was a noteworthy one for rotorcraft, with confirmation of some trends and the unexpected emergence of some others. Despite a softening commercial market, attributable largely to the dwindling price of oil, airframers do not appear to have scaled back their investment in technology.

Airbus Helicopters unveiled the H160 medium twin (until then codenamed X4), a clean-sheet design in the 12,000- to 13,000-pound-mtow category (typically 12 seats). As expected, it will succeed the AS365 Dauphin/EC155 series.
