Update from Bev at COAA:

Hi,

PlanePlotter version 6.4.4.4 is now available for download by following the link on the PlanePlotter web site. http://www.planeplotter.com/#download

The recently released version 6.4.4.3 inadvertently left in a special switch applicable to VPN based SMUs only and it does not therefore work for regular SMUs.

Please install version 6.4.4.4, which is on the web site now. It corrects that switch so it now works for SMU Mlats.

Apologies for the oversight.

Downloaded, updated - doesn't work  >:(

Same procedure as previously - not rocket science - so what went wrong?

Edit: reverted to 6.4.4.1 and all ok. What am I missing in the update? And tried again - no aircraft displayed in 6.4.4.4

For info: SBS-3. direct IP

I had that problem, which was very annoying as I had problems with NTP earlier which is now sorted, anyway I clicked on the Aircraft symbol on the tool bar and it showed I was picking up aircraft so then I clicked on the map symbol and low and behold I've got aircraft showing!

Update from Bev at COAA:

The symptom reported for version 6.4.4.4 in which it does not plot aircraft when first started, applies only to users starting with chart views and rather than outline views.

Until I fix it, the workaround is to make the chart view that you want to open with, a Quick Chart, using Options..Chart..Quick chart..Define and to click on the corresponding Quick Chart button, which will make the plots appear.

Interestingly, I note that in the anomalous state, the permanent trails for the unplotted aircraft are still shown even though the aircraft symbols are not.

It should not take too long to fix so if any users have not yet installed 6.4.4.4, give me a little while and there will be a version without that "feature".

Further update from Bev at COAA:

Version 6.4.4.4a resolves the problem in 6.4.4.4 that no plots could be seen initially if the program was opened with a chart file showing.

It is on the web site now.

http://www.coaa.co.uk/planeplotter6_4_4_4a.exe

The bug crept in as part of my efforts to allow users near the 180 meridian to see plots on both halves of the (outline) display. There is more work required to make all features hemisphere indifferent but as I was focussing on the outline displays, I overlooked the infelicity that crept in for chart displays elsewhere on the planet.

As PP now has thousands of options, it is impossible to test all combinations of options before releasing a new version. I am grateful to users for discovering these infelicities and for their patience in waiting for me to fix them.

We call them "programming bugs" in the colonies.
