Thinking of experimenting

I have a new (secondhand) laptop on win. XP (which I prefer) it also has 2 spare 9 cell batteries (4 hours each).

I live near the Pennine foothills and have a 1309ft hill less than 1/2 mile away. I am thinking of taking my SBS-1, laptop and I have a smaller proper SBS aerial with a Magmount (and biscuit tin lid/pizza tray for mounting on the trig point)

Is there anyone that can give me a rough range that I could possibly achieve from the top of the hill. I am hoping to get as far as the South East (LHR,LGW,LTN,etc) as at the minute I fall short just above Birmingham. Just so I can see what it can pick up in contacts instead of my usual 30-40 contacts around my area of North West England at any time during the day.

Try this

You will have to generate a plot for the location and then use Up in the Air to see the range according to aircraft altitude.

Cheers for that Anmer. It lloks pretty good for what I want to do. The main peaks are in North Wales and Cumbria so should be good towards the South/South East. Just waiting for a clear, warmer day and I am ready to go.
