Quote from: terrywadeairbus on April 11, 2024, 10:42:12 PMWould anyone please be able to supply me with an up to date countries dat files for The Cayman Islands and Bermuda as I'm receiving quite a few incorrect flags showing for these countries, mainly UK flags ? One example yesterday was VP-CEX hex 4247B4 which came up with a UK flag.

You're probably going to wish you hadn't asked that.  :D

The Bermuda/Caymans allocation (strictly speaking, it's part of the UK's) is a mess.

Here's my take on what's currently in use, based on my database:

400001 to 40007F Cayman Islands 1
4000D9 to 4001BF Bermuda 1
4001C8 to 4002FF Cayman Islands 2
424043 to 424131 Bermuda 2
424135 to 4241F2 Cayman Islands 3
424234 to 4243BA Bermuda 3
4243BC to 4244FF Bermuda 4
424500 to 42451F Bermuda 5
424530 to 4245AF Bermuda 6
4245C0 to 4245DF Cayman Islands 4
4245E0 to 4246FF Bermuda 7
424700 to 4248D6 Cayman Islands 5
4248DB to 424A04 Bermuda 8
43BBE0 to 43BFFF Bermuda 9

If anyone wants to try and turn that into Countries.dat format, good luck !

Dave

Hi Dave

Thanks for the useful information. I really had no idea it was so complicated  ::)

Another Countries.dat mystery for the experts.  :-\

Has anybody come across a hexcode issue with five Singapore Airlines B777 freighter aircraft regos 9V-DHA to DHE.

Countries.dat file shows Singapore as Singapore=011101101xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,9,Singapore.bmp

These five aircraft hexcodes are:-

9V-DHA 769101=011101101001000100001010
9V-DHB 769012=011101101001000100001011
9V-DHC 769103=011101101001000100001100
9V-DHD 769104=011101101001000100001101
9V-DHE 769105=011101101001000100001110

Which should be covered by the Singapore entry in the Countries.dat file.

For some unknown reason, BaseStation ModeSCountry column is left blank and has to be manually updated.

Cheers.

Have you used the Lookup Tool to check these codes?

It should show any conflicts in your Countries.dat file and indicate which bmp flag is associated with the code.

I noticed your binary strings are different to what I would have expected to see?
Yours in blue, the correct in red:

9V-DHA
769101=011101101001000100001010

769101=011101101001000100000001

9V-DHB
769012=011101101001000100001011

769012=011101101001000000010010

9V-DHC
769103=011101101001000100001100

769103=011101101001000100000011

9V-DHD
769104=011101101001000100001101

769104=011101101001000100000100

9V-DHE
769105=011101101001000100001110

769105=011101101001000100000101

From where did you get the binary data?

I'd use the Lookup Tool and go from there.

And how are you manually adjusting the BaseStation ModeSCountry column?

Thanks Anmer for your reply.

I use this chart below:-

https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-binary.html

Most likely due to a senior's moment, I inserted the wrong numbers for the first code into the table which generate the mistake and followed on with the next four.

I have since corrected this entry and now have the same binary strings as you have posted.

Below is the the updated entry into the Countries.dat file.

Singapore=011101101xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,9,Singapore.bmp
Singapore_9V-DHA=011101101001000100000001,24,Singapore.bmp
Singapore_9V-DHB=011101101001000100000010,24,Singapore.bmp
Singapore_9V-DHC=011101101001000100000011,24,Singapore.bmp
Singapore_9V-DHD=011101101001000100000100,24,Singapore.bmp
Singapore_9V-DHE=011101101001000100000101,24,Singapore.bmp
Singapore Mil=01110110111000110000xxxx,20,Singapore_Mil.bmp

Lesson learnt that I should have checked the amendments using the lookup tool.

When the BaseStation Report column came up blank, I just typed in "Singapore".

Have now deleted these five entries from Reporter and wait for them again darken our skies and see what happens.

Many thanks again Anmer for your help for your input now and in the past. Much appreciated.

Cheers,
Oldfella

Unless I'm mistaken:

Singapore=011101101xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,9,Singapore.bmp
Will cover the five aircraft in question which don't need separate entries in the Dat file?

Oldfella

Hello again Anmer, so happens 9V-DHC popped up at 18:35 Sydney time tonight. The Singapore flag was displayed in the flag column but in BaseStation Reporter, the ModeSCountry column remained blank. Yet other Singapore registered aircraft are displayed as per the book.

That's why I thought adding these five aircraft separately in the Countries.dat file might solve this mystery. No such luck. Ah well back to the drawing board.

Thanks again for your time.

Cheers,
Oldfella

I must admit I don't know how Basestation allocates the ModeSCountry to a newly received aircraft message?

Not easy to test either!

Further to countries dat files for BS.

I'd like to say a big thank you to rikgale for his
excellent countries dat files which have help me tie up many missing and incorrect
flags, please see link below:

Thanks

Terry

rikgale

Thanks Terry.

I can't really take much credit for this. Another memeber sent me a file a while back and I have just been adding to it since.

Faramir wrote me a python script to update the contry coloumn for all entries in my DB and this is now used as part of my regular database update routine for use with VRS.

Happy to take tweaks and additions - please post here or open an issue on the Github repo. If you don't hear back from me please PM me as I may have missed your message.
