Bit of an off-the-wall question but I'm wondering if the SDR on the SBS-3 can be configured to download and display satellite information and audio?

What I'm trying to ask is, can it be configured to work like the FUNCube dongle http://www.funcubedongle.com/ ?

Thanks

Did you ever get a reply to your question re sat imagery - I run my own weather web site and if I could use the SBS3 to receive imagery it would save me a few quid!

Bethy. I may be way off the mark .I think the SDR On the SBS-3 ends around 980 mhz. from the supplement ie anywhere within the range of 27mhz to 980mhz.
will have to have a root around to see what weather sats fall within that range

Weather satellites I have received and which are currently active;

NOAA 15   137.62 MHz
NOAA 18   137.9125 MHz
NOAA 19   137.10 MHz

SBS-3 will of course receive them but I think Bethy was asking if it could be used to do the actual decoding.

David Taylor who is a prominent member of the PlanePlotter Yahoo Group is an expert and may even have used the SBS-3. Here's the link to his site: http://www.satsignal.net/

Thanks for the replies. Even the R820T dongle will download weather satellite data, but Tom is right in thinking that I was asking will it do the decoding too?
