All,

Ive just to my computer to find my SBS-1 with an error log that was continually scrolling. (could read what it was saying.

I have shut everything down using the task manager and restarted my computer.

Now when I start Basestation again when  it gets to opening database a new warning box opens saying Disk I/O error.

I have renamed by .SQB file and tried again (to create a new .SQB) but the same happens. Could the reference SQB be corrupt???

Cheers in advance for any help

Andy

I once had this never ending scrolling error report , all I could see
through-running ModeS codes and I feared a corrupt Basenstation.SQB
which later proved as okey.
Sorry dont recall how I solved that.
All I now can say the active files during a running BS should be as
Basestation.INI read / saved at time of BS-start and  later shutdown
Basestation.SQB  is written to more or less continuously till shutdown,
or after dealed with by BS-reporter or SQL-Editor.
Reference.SQB written to continiously but stopped/saved when my ADLite was shut down
well before BS Closure.
However later after using Browser for SQLite the Reference was used and later saved again.
So I assume the Reference.SQB is mainly to info the format to other Add on - progs

Did you try to rename the Reference also ? so as to be nonexistent
is BS running without it and if generating a new one based on an existing Basestation.SQB ?

HI truetrack, thanks for your reply

I have tried to rename the reference .sqb as well but nothing has changed. A new .sqb has been created but not a reference.sqb.

Also there is something in there that I haven't seen before basestation.sqb-journal but deleting it and reopening just creates another one

When loading basestation it gets to opening database and the warning box comes up again, if I click ok on that it opens but it is just a white screen and the clock in the top right has 00:00 on it.

Can I do a remote Teamviewer session at a mutually agreed time and take a look with you?

Sorry for the late reply, I was flying back from the USA Sunday/Monday and stuck on a train (actually five different ones) for 11 hours getting back home from Manchester Airport!

If you can wait, Friday is best for me.

You will need Teamviewer, free.  Send me a PM with your preferred time for Friday and then another one just before the agreed time with your ID and password.

HI all just to close the loop,

I found below on another topic the same fault I was having. I followed the instructions and now all is running again.

Hi
I had the same problem with my laptop.

I noted that the Basestation.sqb file that was being used was in the virtual store folder which is something I've never liked from day1.  What I ended up doing was to turn 'user accounts control' off (from control Panel) , move the whole Kinetic folder from 'Program Files (x86)/Kinetic' so it's now a folder under the 'Documents' folder (Documents/Kinetic).  I then moved the Basestation.sqb file into the Basestation folder and totally removed it from the 'virtual store' folder.  To move the folder I used 'copy' (CTRL C) and 'paste' (CTRL V).  Once copied, I then removed the Kinetic folder from the 'Program Files (x86)' folder and set up new short cuts on the desktop to both the Basestation and Basestation Reporter options.

Original Path for the Basestation folder was C:\Program Files (x86)\Kinetic\Basestation with the Basestation.sqb file in C:\users\<pc name>\appdata\local\virtualstore\programfiles (x86)\Kinetic
New Path for the Basestation folder is C:\users\<pc name>\Documents \Kinetic\Basestation with the Basestration.sqb file in the same folder.

Worked for me, now no disk error message.
Hope that helps
DF

Glad you resolved this.

It's what I normally do remotely.  Some members don't know how to expose all the files in the Virtual Store.

You saved me some work and got there earlier.  Well done Andy.
