Hi guys,

I really need your help. A friend and I are trying to get my sbs 1er to work over the network, we get a reply when pinging but it simply doesn't show up on the software and the light fails to illuminate to says it's on the ethernet. The box is plugged into the modem and my pc is elsewhere in the house. This is the bit we don't understand - can anyone help decipher why it keeps failing here or what this even means ?

The ping is using an SBS-1eR IP and port address of:

192.168.0.1701:10001

The default IP address (hard coded) is 192.168.1.170.

Has the SBS-1eR had it's IP address changed?

Hi Anmer,

yes the sbs/Lnatronix xport has had its IP changed to match my network. We can ping it and get the response back with no loss but it simply refuses to connect.

The SBS has worked flawlessly for many years on USB but I want to move the sbs to the loft where I have access to the network via cable. Connecting via both the router and a switch have been tried and both ping ok but with the same response. It seems to stall at the "login string". We have also reset to default (192.168.1.170 and subnet of 255.255.0.0) and get the same response.

Really not sure where I go from here ? Is it worth having a go with your reset program if you still have it ?

Faramir

The SBS-1 is connected via the router to the PC that is also connected to that same router I believe. Perhaps some firewall/portfilter issue? If you got a cross-over network cable you could try to connect the SBS-1 via Ethernet directly to the PC.

The login listing you posted, is that from Basestation?

I assume in Basestation Settings -> Data Settings you've selected "Use Network"?

And what do you have in Settings -> Hardware Settings -> Network?

+1 for the advice to try connecting directly to the PC - you can get a crossover cable for a couple of quid on eBay, if you don't already have one.

Hi all,

Anmer - the login string response is from the basestation debug window. I will get a crossover cable that you all suggested and report back - appreciate everyone's replies

so my friend logged back into my pc and mucked around with some settings on the Lantronix page and somehow got it to work. In all honesty, he told me what he did but it went right over my head but he got it all working on 192.168.0.1701:10001

Anmer

Good to hear it's all fixed.

Maybe ask your friend to write a short note explaining what he did which you can copy and paste here?
