A lot of noise (around 40) without antenna connected in airband

Hi,
has somebody an idea how to reduce this internally generated noise.
Connecting an antenna (with coax) the noise rises to around 65 (no signal).
Will some capacitors at the right place block this noise ? Where :)

ps.: if I switch to a radiostation in WFM there is a permanent 3kHz tone in the background.

Did you try moving the SBS to another part of the house and away from the PC?

I dont think moving it away will make any differents.
AS Ive also noticed the same,. With Antenne disconnected
40% Noise level,.
And my SBS3 is in the attic,. one floor away,. which points to
Internal noise coming from the SBS3.
Also, when you consider 40% 100,. that is a considerable
amount of noise from nothing.

Hi,
no, my USB-cable is not long enough.
but a friend using a seperate power supply and an ethernet connection to another floor has the same problem.

enclosed an example of the 3kHz tone in WFM mentioned above.

Evening Guys. Does the sbs have a SQUELCH on it ? this cut noise out till strong signal breaks it

I read somewhere with the older sbs hdmi cables interfere with the radio.

There's a squelch option for each of the four frequencies in the Radio Panel.
Here to Help.

Morning Boss. Will have to fiddle around some time with the radio's on the box

EDLM

the squelch,. does make any differents to the ground level noise,. when you consider a normal radio has a Max ground level noise factor of 10%.and that high.

Maybe Chris Kinetic should take another look at the Radio side of the SBS3.

Hi,
in general the receiver works fine. Its comparable to a handscanner with rubber antenna. I have changed the wireantenna against a spare ADS-B mini antenna. Works better.
But the noise level is still the same. Acars can be decoded nearly down to the noise level.
Would be nice to have an antenna socket for each sdr receiver to use the correct antenna.
