Are there any Control-progs for AOR (8600/8200Mk3) available which can be used with newer versions of MS Windows ?
as these here
AR86ctrl supports only up to Win ME(Millenium Edition) only, no further development
JAOR V2.0 up to win 2000 and XP, some 70 € ! , also an OS which is no longer supported by MS
Butel up to Vista but is Bank programming only.

your info appreciated

Hi Klaus,

AR86ctrl works well with my 8600 Mk 2 and Win 7.

Hi Rob
thanks for replying, you gave me hope if it works for AR8600 Mk2 it should work with 8200 Mk3 also
Having the Mk3 long time with the by then costly original cable with 9-pol RS232,
now still use it with a vintage WinME Notebook with RS232 port and this just for controlling the scanner!
I bought short adaptercable RS232 > usb, but failed into Win 7 PC and Win7 NB
got another one cable which failed also, so I dropped that task a while ago
your info now sounds promising
possibly I have to teach one win7 usb-port to accept the RS232 strings
(blame me I never bothered with the CD in the cable's bypack)

I've also had problems using a USB to RS232 converter with the program; however using a straight RS232 cable from my desktop PC to the radio works perfectly.

feedback to Rob
Even though I reinstalled AR86ctrl new
and installed from HAMA the respective driver for their convertercable,
comport selection etc the prog did not connect properly, not reading the receivers internal banks
- on command > RX < error occured -
Then I tried manually to enter a freq into one of the 3 VFOs
only came up with > VF < error .
I now give up and take the win7 NoGo (on 8200Mk3 only) for granted.

thanks
Klaus

Sorry to hear that Klaus.

I just checked again and the program works well with my AR8600 Mk2. The PC runs Win 7 64-bit and is connected to the radio via a fully-wired RS232 lead. As I mentioned before I had problems when using a laptop and USB-RS232 converter.

I attach a screenshot of the program running on my PC.
