My thanks to IanH for finding this new receiver listed on eBay.

Possibly a Raspberry Pi and SDR receiver combined in a black case, together with a preloaded SD card with Dump1090.

One could buy the individual components, DVB-T receiver and Pi, for approximately GBP £60 with free shipping.  And download the free FlightAware PiAware SD image to start running Dump 1090.

At GPB £94.99 plus GBP £6.00 shipping, there's a hefty mark-up on this "package":

Thanks for posting Mike - wasn't sure since I didn't want to advertise it.

But you've added your thoughts on mark up  ::)

To put the price in perspective.

It is based on a Pi, either B+ or Pi2 given the number of USB ports.

Just looked on eBay and cost would be:

Pi B+ = £15 (make it £30 for a Pi2 but what do you reckon?)
Pi case = £7 (but alternative for £3)
Pi PSU = £6
3m network cable = £2
8Gb microSD card = £3
mini SDR dongle with antenna = £10
free software

So hardware is £43 or £58 for a Pi2

How much for a quick start guide and my time?

Thanks Ian.

I can't determine if these are "built-to-order" packages or bought in and resold on eBay?

eBay and PayPal will take 10%, maybe a bit more, but still a hefty margin.  And open source software to boot so no intellectual property included.

Then I spotted this:

And they sell.  :)
