Falcon200EX

Good afternoon,

There was a Windows update a couple of weeks ago. Due to work my SBS1 is not on every day and I only noticed this problem a few days ago.

The SBS1 is connected via Ethernet and the Data Source is set to use Network.

At start up the BaseStation shows the version 1.2.4.185.

The SBS1 is in my garage up high on a shelf so the external aerial can reach the connection on the back of the SBS1. The ethernet cable then runs from the unit through the wall into the lounge and is then connected to the BT router.

I've had this arrangement since 2008.

Thanks

Thanks for confirming the connection.

Can you access your BT router Admin?  It's usually on local IP address 192.168.1.254.

Look under My Devices.  Do you see a device connected using the same local IP address assigned to the SBS-1?  You can check this in BaseStation -> Settings -> Harware Settings -> Network

If not, maybe try a router reboot?

Good evening,

I've access my BT router admin and under My Devices there is nothing connected to Ethernet or a device connected using the same local IP address assigned to the SBS1.

I've also tried a router reboot but still no joy.

Thanks.

What's the IP address and port number of the SBS?  In Hardware Settings, similar to the attached

IP address is 192.168.1.170

Port 10001

Thanks.

And is that the same range as your local IP address?

192.168.1.nnn

Thanks

It's showing as 192.168.1.82

Thanks.

I guess you've tried pinging 192,168.1.170?

If you have and don't get a reply there could be a number of possible issues.

1. The SBS' Ethernet port is faulty
2. The Ethernet cable is faulty
3. The SBS' Lantronix needs resetting.

Have you tried a different Ethernet cable connected directly to the SBS in the garage?

I haven't tried pinging, I can't remember how you do this as it's been a long time since I've done it.

Once I know how to do this I will try it and if I don't get a reply I will try the other possibilities.

Many thanks

Falcon200EX

I've just found out how to ping the IP address

Pinging 192.168.1.170 gave me the following results

Reply from 192.168.1.82: Destination host unreachable (received this 4 times)

Hi

Just catching up on this thread,
Your sbs box should be showing RED - AMBER - GREEN then your blue lights,
Its strange that you are receiving signals with your blue lights been on  and no green.

Just a though but have you done a firmware update on your sbs box.

Hope ive not confused any matters here.

Regards

Ian

Thanks for your reply.

I've just changed the Ethernet cable and still the SBS1 doesn't respond, I've still got a Red light and 3 or 4 blues no Amber or Green.

I will do a firmware update next and see what happens. I assume its a case of downloading it and installing it in the Kinetic/Basestation folder.

Thanks

No, the firmware is a hardware "update" for the SBS.

You need the SBS-1 or SBS-1e/1eR firmware and the appropriate Uploader.

I suspect the firmware isn't the issue and instead would recommend resetting the Lantronix Ethernet port.

I can send you the utility and instructions.
