Mode-S Software => Common Interest => Topic started by: OtNE on July 17, 2019, 08:39:31 PM
I've been using a Flightaware dongle on a PC with Planeplotter for years and have not followed other software developments.
Having converted to Piaware now feeding planeplotter (still on a PC), I was wondering if there were any other software that offered the MySky type view. All the graphics I've seen show planes on a map but I'm looking for something approaching the view on an Augmented Reality that you find on a phone, but for it to work on a PC with lat/lons entered.
Any ideas ?

I'm not sure I even understand "augmented reality", but I suspect that all most of us want is "planes on a map".
So given the likely lack of marketing potential (=profit) for any new PC display of Piaware, etc output, I doubt it.
Personally I am pleased that the few examples of legacy "planes on a map" software still work.
Pointing a phone at a trail and getting a result seems like a magic trick to me ;)

PlaneFinder and FR24 have been doing that trick for nearly 10 years.
And I know of many who use the feature a lot. But I'm not one of them.
