Title: New version ADUSBS tool
Post by: Faramir on March 25, 2020, 10:18:56 AM
The ADUSBS tool has a new version. The new version has some extra capabilities but (for me) most important is the option to skip populating the operator flag. This is a paid upgrade. Although this a pricy piece of software I'm happy with it as it has regular database updates.

I finally decided to switch over to using ADU Software to replace Active Display in populating my BaseStation database and thought I would share a few thoughts on how I have got on with it.  Well, it works very well, in that it provides data for any new aircraft and also updates the data for existing aircraft in the database when these are received again by the SBS.  The data from ADU's database appears to be thorough and accurate and an update is provided every few days.  Now that the latest SBS Utility software allows the user to select the option of not overwriting existing Operator Flags, this makes it acceptable to those of us who have a lot of specific Operator Logos for aircraft already in our database.  You are also able to undertake either a manual update of the data or an auto update, where the SBS Update Utility runs in the background and updates roughly every minute.  Overall, I have been very pleased with this software - it certainly beats the time consuming manual updates I have had to do since Active Display ceased to work.  One other positive is the support provided which is excellent, even offering the service to remotely install the software on my PC.  The only negative for me is that I have lost the use of the Interested and User Tag fields as they are used for other purposes by the ADU Software. Overall though, I have found this software to be very capable and the database behind it is really good.  I hope this information might be of interest to others who have been stuck since the demise of Active Display.

I have also recently invested in ADU Software and second everything said by How 225 about the SBS Utility, the overall package and the support provided by Steve. The regular updates to the ADU database ensure that the Basestation database is kept up-to date. Also for spotters, the logging part of the software is excellent. Input of logs is easy and the search facilities are a great tool.
