Hi

PlanePlotter version 6.4.9.5 is on the web site now.

http://www.planeplotter.com#download

---Usual boilerplate---
Updates are free to registered users.
You may need to exercise your browser Refresh function to force it to show you the new version of the PlanePlotter web page. If you post a message complaining that the web site is still pointing to an earlier version, you pay a forfeit!
You can install the new version over the old one but you *must* close/exit PlanePlotter before installing the new one. Your settings will be preserved. Nic's installer will warn you if PlanePlotter is still running when you try to install the new version.
If you have a version-specific firewall (eg Zone Alarm), you may have to reassure it that the new version is permitted to access the Internet. Be aware that an increasing number of security systems treat any new file as a threat without any justification except that it is new. Please don't write to me about it; write to your security system provider and ask them to make their program smarter.

New in version 6.4.9.5

Faster SMU operation

This update will be welcomed by our dedicated Sector Master Users (SMUs) as it significantly reduces the processing load of an SMU cycle.  Previously, SMUs that were well supplied with Ground Stations in their area and which enjoyed a high density of traffic, could be occupied for many seconds during each SMU cycle.  Now the processing time is reduced to a second or so even for the busiest and most productive SMUs.  Any SMUs (or potential SMUs) who were inconvenienced by the processing load of earlier versions, are urged to install this latest release.  Many thanks to John Locker for identifying this infelicity and for patiently testing countless versions that eventually resolved it.

DF-18 report display (changed in server)

A bug in earlier server scripts meant that DF-18 report types were only downloaded from the sharing server if all the download options were ticked.  This bug is now corrected so that DF-18 report types are downloaded and displayed as long as both Mode-S reports and the DF-18 option are ticked in Options..Sharing..Setup sharing.

Mode C graph extension

The graph that is displayed when the "View..Mode C altitude window" is selected, now extends to flight level 800 when clicking on the graph. Previous versions expanded the graph to FL600.  This is in the (forlorn?) hope that the occasional passing U2 might show an interesting trace.

TCP socket closes

Previous versions left TCP sockets defined in "Options..I/O settings" open when processing stopped.  If the selected TCP port was then changed and processing restarted, both ports were sometimes seen to be active.  This version seeks to resolve that anomaly.

Enjoy!
