Title: Antenna + Cable
Post by: Pipo on August 01, 2020, 10:51:01 AM
Hello all,

I'm thinking of buying this antenna https://shop.jetvision.de/A3-ADS-B-Antenna (https://shop.jetvision.de/A3-ADS-B-Antenna) any here that have experience with this antenna?

Also the next question, my land-lord/house-owner only allows me to fit the antenna on my roof but wont let me drill true the roof to put the cable inside.

Is it oke to leave the cable outside the roof (fit it with cable clamps) and then outside my wall to a small opening and connect it to my sbs-1e? What is the max lenght of a cable that i can use?

I've had Jetvision antennae and they're OK.  I say just OK as I haven't found much difference with any of the external antennae I have used or tested.

The cable can be left outside as you suggest but try and secure it.  Otherwise it could blow around in the wind and damage the connection.  Cable length depends on the quality of the cable.  15 metres of low loss cable should be OK.

What kind or type antenna do you prefer? I'm living in a rural farmers area, so no high buildings or forest in the area.

I usually prefer the cheapest!

And one that doesn't suffer from water ingression.

You have any websites/shops that also do shipping to Netherlands? Here in region are no radio-shops that have 1090mhz stuff

What you think about this antenna: shorturl.at/bGHJ9 (http://shorturl.at/bGHJ9) have to see if the 10 mtr cable is long enough for my roof to where my sbs-1e is

Sorry the link shorter did not work, i have found a antenna second hand with amplifier, now is my other question, if i fit a scanner antenna next to this ads-b antenne and i lay both cables out side my roof, can i pair the cables together with tyraps, do i get interference on my ads-b signal or would it work?

I have a VHF antenna next to my ADS-B one and the cables are side-by-side.  No interference.

I don't think the amp will cause any interference.  If you think it does, remove the power and then check.

I want to thanks Faramir for the time and effort that he bring me his old sbs-1 antenna today, it is even with a amplifier and all the cables. Very thanks for this help from a very nice dutch guy.

Now have to look for a roof bracket and laders to put it on my roof, and also a small cable BNC male to SMA male to connect it to the amplifier power DC.

As we say in Dutch: Dank je wel
